The All-Ireland senior football quarter-finals line-up for the weekend has been confirmed, which will see Dublin led by Dessie Farrell lock horns with Pádraic Joyce’s Galway on Saturday evening at 6.15 at Croke Park. The preceding match will feature Armagh versus Roscommon at 4.0. Both of these quarter-finals will be broadcast on GAAGo.
On Sunday, fans can look forward to the main 3.15 fixture of Kerry pitted against Derry, following the opening Sunday match between Donegal and Louth at 1.15. Both of Sunday’s games will be televised live on RTÉ.
The Dublin and Galway match-ups particularly stand out as they are, respectively, the champions of Leinster and Connacht. This battle means a regional titan will be knocked out prior to the semi-finals. The teams have historically faced each other 10 times in the championship, with Dublin holding the most wins (eight), while Galway has won twice, the most recent being in the All-Ireland final of 1934. Their last championship encounter was in 2018.
Kerry and Derry will face off for the sixth time in the championship, with Kerry having won four of the five previous games, including the All-Ireland semi-finals last year. Derry only claimed victory over Kerry once at the semi-final stages in 1958.
The record between Armagh and Roscommon is evenly matched as each team has triumphed three times in their seven former face-offs, with one match ending in a draw. Donegal and Louth, on the other hand, will meet for the first time in the championship.
Overall, the quarter-final games will all be hosted at Croke Park with the following schedule:
Saturday: Armagh v Roscommon, 4.0 (Live on GAAGo); Dublin v Galway, 6.15 (Live on GAAGo)
Sunday: Donegal v Louth, 1.15 (Live on RTÉ); Kerry v Derry, 3.15 (Live on RTÉ).
