“All-Ireland Champion Manager John O’Mahony Dies”

John O’ Mahony, a former Fine Gael TD and All-Ireland champion football manager, has passed away at 71 years old. O’Mahony, who was originally from Kilmovee in County Mayo, served as a Fine Gael TD in Mayo, a position he held from the 2007 General Election until 2016. In 2016, he was chosen for the 25th Seanad. In addition to his political achievements, he managed the Galway senior football team to victory in the All-Ireland championships in 1998 and 2001 and was also the lead manager of the Mayo team. He leaves behind his wife, Gerardine Towey, and their five daughters.
