Alcaraz Defeats Zverev for French Title

Carlos Alcaraz of Spain triumphed over Germany’s Alexander Zverev in a challenging match, securing his inaugural French Open championship with a score line of 6-3, 2-6, 5-7, 6-1, 6-2, on the final Sunday.
Alcaraz, currently ranked third worldwide, has now claimed three Grand Slam victories including a US Open victory in 2022, and the Wimbledon championship the previous year. Impressively, he’s maintained an undefeatable record in major finals.
The 21-year-old has also made history by becoming the youngest and just the seventh male player to secure Grand Slam titles across all three surfaces.
Despite a shaky start and creeping unforced errors allowing Zverev to tie the game, Alcaraz demonstrated resilience and composure. The young Spaniard was on the verge of bagging the third set at 5-3, but a slight snag allowed Zverev to take the upper hand in the match. However, Alcaraz made a quick recovery, powering through the subsequent set regardless of a minor thigh problem and elevating his performance to clinch the ultimate set.
