Adeleke Secures 400m Silver at Europeans

Rhasidat Adeleke has added another accolade to Ireland’s tally at the European Championships in Rome, securing second place in the 400 metres final on Monday evening. The first place was clinched by Poland’s Natalia Kaczmarek, while Ireland’s Sharlene Mawdsley missed out on the medals, ending up in the eighth spot.

The silver medal won tonight complements the impressive array of awards Ireland has accumulated. This includes the gold that Adeleke, Mawdsley, Thomas Barr and Chris O’Connell bagged on Friday night in the mixed 4x400m relay, as well as Ciara Mageean’s victory in the 1,500m race on Sunday.

Updates will ensue.
