Achille Lauro ‘ s yacht draws no buyers at auction

Born in Naples, Achille Lauro became one of the most important shipping magnates here in Italy with a vast fleet of ships to his name.
A rather controversial figure, he was often compared with Aristotele Onassis.
He also became major of Naples and president of Naples Football Club, though his way of obtaining votes (especially in the slums of the city) raised many an eyebrow.

Now his yacht (Achille Lauro died in 1982) has ended up on Ebay auction block.
Well, back in the old days the yacht called Karama was considered a real beauty.
Commissioned by Count Cini from Venice in 1931, the yatch was built in Fiume, a town renowned for its shipyards; it reaches a length of 31 metres, weighs 103 tons and has three masts and a Rolls Royce engine.
In its halcyon days the yacht was manned by 11 sailors all staunchly loyal to the powerful magnate.
The Karama was also the first ship to be registered in Naples with the number NA 001 ND! Why not bid for it on ebay?Karama: all’asta su ebay il panfilo a vela di Achille Lauro
