A man lost his life following a collision between a lorry and a car in Co Kildare

A fatal road accident occurred in Co Kildare, causing a man in his 40s to lose his life. The unfortunate mishap took place on Monday morning around 9.20am at Barnhill East, Castledermot, involving a car and a truck. The man driving the car died from the impact, and his body was subsequently brought to Naas General Hospital’s morgue. An autopsy is set to be conducted.

The truck driver, however, sustained injuries that are not thought to be life-threatening. He was rushed to St Luke’s Hospital in Kildare for immediate medical attention. According to the official statement by the gardaí, no other individuals were hurt in the incident.

Following the tragic event, a section of the R448 from Junction 4 of the M9 to Castledermot remained inaccessible, with detours put in place for local motorists.

The gardaí are now urging anyone who might have witnessed the accident or have relevant information to step forward. In particular, any motorists who were driving in the vicinity between 8.45am and 9.45am and have camera footage, including dashcam footage, are being urged to share it with the investigating Garda officers.
