A male individual has tragically lost his life following a vehicular incident that occurred late in the evening in Co Antrim. According to the Police Service of Northern Ireland, the gentleman, who was in his third decade of life, was declared deceased at the scene on Ballyrobert Road in Ballyclare just before the stroke of midnight on Saturday.
His unfortunate passing follows two other fatalities that occurred in separate road mishaps, which took place overnight on Friday and in the early morning hours of Saturday. A young man named Jack Morrow, only 17 years old from the Rathfriland region, was killed during a single-vehicle crash in the Co Down town just before dawn on Saturday. An older man, in his 60s, lost his life due to a collision in Poyntzpass that took place on Friday night.
According to the police, another young man of 19 years was rushed to the hospital with grave injuries from the incident that occurred in Rathfriland. The police are now urging anyone with any useful information or visual evidence of the Ballyclare accident to come forward and liaise with their officers.
Cherith Adair, the Roads Policing Inspector commented, “Shortly before midnight we were informed of a collision involving a black Volkswagen. Colleagues from the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service as well as the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service attended alongside our officers. Regrettably, a man in his 30s was declared dead at the scene. Currently, Ballyrobert Road remains blocked to traffic.”
The PSNI is appealing to anyone who might have information or video footage captured on dashcam or a mobile phone to reach out to their collision investigation unit based in Sprucefield. The reference number for this case is 2011 and the date is 25/05/24.
