A man in his thirties has tragically lost his life due to a car accident in County Longford

A tragic car accident in Co Longford has led to the demise of a man in his thirties. The impact occurred on the N55 at Ballymahon involving only one vehicle, noted to be around 12.45am. Although emergency services attended promptly to the driver at the place of incident, he unfortunately succumbed to his injuries. Following this, his body was transported to Midland Regional Hospital, Mullingar, for the postmortem examination to be conducted.

Following the incident, the road was categorically shut down for Garda investigators to conduct their investigation unhindered. This has necessitated the institution of diversionary measures for other road users. Gardaí is also making an official request to any potential witnesses and those who may possess video footage of the accident; especially those road users who were around the area at the time of the accident. They are also reaching out to individuals with any relevant information concerning the accident to come forward.
