A kayaker has been reported lost at sea along the coast of County Waterford

A kayaker is currently missing off the Co Waterford coast and a search is being carried out. After setting out from Helvick Head in Dungarvan at 11.40am, the individual failed to make it back to land. The Coast Guard got word of the incident at 5.25pm on Monday. The Marine Rescue Coordination Centre in Dublin, with assistance from Helvick’s lifeboat, Bunmahon Coast Guard Unit, Ardmore Coast Guard Unit, and the rescue chopper R117, initiated a search operation. The naval ship LÉ Aobhinn was present at the scene on Monday night, playing a key role in coordinating the ongoing search.
