A young man in his twenties was taken into custody after law enforcement seized a suspected firearm in County Cork on a Friday evening. The Gardaí are currently investigating several instances, with one involving criminal damage to a property in the Shanakiel region around 5:40 pm. Shortly after, around 6:10 pm, an accident involving a pedestrian and a motorcycle took place on Churchfield Road. The pedestrian sustained non-critical injuries during the incident and was transported to Cork University Hospital for treatment. Following the accident, both the motorcyclist and the passenger fled the scene.
Police later seized a potential firearm and proceeded to arrest a young man in his twenties. He is currently being held under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act, 1939, in a police station located in the southern part of the country.
