Efforts to resolve the ongoing salary dispute involving Aer Lingus pilots are set to recommence on Thursday morning, amongst unfolding industrial action and further disruption to flights.
The standstill action instigated by the Irish Airline Pilots’ Association is entering its second day which has induced the airline to suspend various flights in a bid to maintain as many services as possible.
Cancellations on Thursday are to comprise of a flight from Cork to Heathrow, in addition to a dozen services from Dublin, with destinations such as Rome, Heathrow, Brussels and New York being affected.
Hopes for a settlement to the continuing conflict have received a boost as company and union representatives have declared their intention to meet later today.
The pilots are demanding a pay increase of 23.88 per cent due to inflation, but Aer Lingus insists it cannot go beyond a 12.25 per cent rise without an agreement on increased productivity and flexibility.
