Dear Sir, -The upcoming Dublin City Marathon 2024 is upon us yet again, and a recurring issue has been brought to light. The question arises – why does Iarnród Éireann consistently suspend the Dart service for the weekend of the marathon?
There seems to be a dire need for intervention in this consistently detrimental decision that seems to reliably fall into place each year. The irony isn’t lost to us that we invite individuals globally to take part in this sporting event, yet we provide them with limited transportation options to reach the city centre.
Imagine the plight of those participants who, in absence of closely available transportation options, find themselves running a marathon even before reaching the starting line of the actual event. – Regards,

Dear Sir, – In reference to a query by your correspondent Ultan Ó Broin (Letters, October 25th), regarding the absence of public transportation information on the official Dublin City Marathon website.
Arguably, this could be attributed to the announcement that Irish Rail will not be running any Dart services north of Dublin Connolly throughout the entire bank holiday weekend. – Yours truly,
