A 44-year-old motorbike rider tragically lost his life in a Co Antrim collision

A 44-year-old motorcyclist has tragically passed away following a collision in Co Antrim, Ireland. The individual, known as Benny McIlhatton who and was a resident of the Loughguile region, was operating a Suzuki motorcycle during the incident, which also involved a Volkswagen automobile. The accident happened Saturday evening.

Inspector Cherith Adair of the PSNI disclosed that they were alerted to the accident on Magheramore Road near Ballycastle around 5.30pm. Police, along with other emergency service personnel, appeared on the scene, but unfortunately Mr McIlhatton could not be saved and was pronounced dead at the location of the accident.

Furthermore, two additional people have been admitted to hospital for injuries sustained during the accident. Insp Adair highlighted that the Magheramore Road, which was briefly sealed off, is now accessible to vehicles once again.

She further emphasised that a comprehensive investigation of the accident is currently underway and called for any potential witnesses or individuals with dashcam footage or any other kind of evidence that could further aid the police in their investigation to get in touch with PSNI. – PA
