A 28-year-old male has been accused of a woman’s homicide in Derry

Following the murder of a woman in Derry, a man has been detained in prison. The deceased woman, named Montserrat Martorell (65), was discovered in a Derry city flat the previous weekend. A 28-year-old man from Gortfoyle Place in Derry, named Ciaran Murray, has been indicted for murder and intended arson that endangers life, on August 24th, Saturday. The individual made his appearance in Derry magistrate’s court via a video link last Thursday. After the charges were announced, his response was an affirmation of understanding. The detective inspector who was present stated her belief that a connection existed between him and the charges. During the short court hearing, no request for bail was granted. The hearing is set to continue on September 26th. – PA
