A fatal accident claimed the life of a 17-year-old boy on the N17 highway in County Mayo, Ireland, on Saturday night. The teenager was hit by a vehicle and was declared dead at the site of the accident. His remains were transferred to Mayo University Hospital for postmortem examination.
The tragic incident occurred within the vicinity of a previous fatal accident, where Una Bowden and her two daughters, Ciara and Saorise, died last Tuesday. The accident site, Barnacarroll, Claremorris, has been temporarily shut down for investigation, causing local diversions to be implemented.
The Gardaí is seeking any eyewitnesses of the accident. Also, anyone with recorded footage, notably dashcam videos, of the N17 route between Claremorris and Knock on Saturday night from 8:45 pm to 9:30 pm are urged to provide it to the authorities. Adding to the tragic weekend, another fatal accident in County Tipperary on Friday evening claimed the life of a woman in her thirties. The two-car collision on the N24 at Kilsheelan also resulted in injuries to a man and three teenagers. The woman was declared dead on the spot, while the injured parties, including a man in his 40s, were rushed to Waterford University Hospital with non-critical injuries. The other vehicle, occupied by two teenagers and a male driver, also sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
