“32-Year-Old Man Charged with Dublin Murder”

A man has been detained by police and charged in connection with the murder of a father-of-two in Dublin. Robert Sheridan, aged 45, was tragically shot in the head and body after answering his front door at his residence in Poppintree Crescent, Ballymun, just past 11pm on October 4th, 2018. Despite efforts by paramedics at the location, he was declared dead approximately an hour after the incident.

Joseph Richards, a 32-year-old from Lanesborough Square, Finglas, Dublin 11, was subsequently apprehended by the investigative officers. He was presented before Judge William Aylmer in Dublin District Court on Tuesday. Garda Neil Cotter provided testimony of the arrest, with Richards being accused of Mr. Sheridan’s murder in accordance to common law.

Simon Fleming, the appointed solicitor under legal aid, will represent the accused. The case has been adjourned, with Richards remaining in police custody until his next court appearance, scheduled for the following week.

A pending inquest into Mr. Sheridan’s death is temporarily paused as the criminal trial unfolds.
