As reported on Monday by the Russian foreign ministry, Ukraine’s offensive in Russia’s Kursk region has led to the death of a minimum of 31 civilians and injuries of 256 others, as of September 5th. On the 6th of August, Ukraine initiated the most substantial foreign assault on Russia since the end of World War II, breaching the border into the western Kursk region, supported by armaments including Western-made weaponry and numerous drones. It is narrated by Russia that 131,000 civilians have exited the riskiest zones of the Kursk region due to the hostile environment.
Sunday marked the arrival of Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskiy in the United States, with a principal aim to advocate for Kyiv’s strategy to conclude the war with Russia that has lasted for more than two years.
The president has planned on setting forth his “victory plan” to President Joe Biden, potential presidential contenders Donald Trump and Kamala Harris, and will also involve in UN general assembly sessions. This visit accompanies a summer full of fierce combat, with Moscow making rapid progress in eastern Ukraine, and Kyiv maintaining its holds in major parts of Russia’s Kursk region.
Urging the desire to get permits from the West to utilise long-range weapons to attack objectives situated deeply inside Russia, Kyiv has pressed persistently for weeks without success. Mr Zelenskiy has called upon his allies to contribute to achieving “a shared victory for a truly just peace,” as he mentioned in a nightly video address delivered from an aircraft.
