“2 Johnnies Leaving 2FM, RTÉ Confirms”

The broadcasting duo known as ‘The 2 Johnnies’ are ready to depart 2FM after a span of two years, as confirmed by the radio station. The comedic team from Tipperary circled in a substantial audience of 151,000 with their evening drive programme, as per the latest Joint National Listenership Research (JNLR) survey. Their grand farewell from the station is slated for May 31st.

Dan Healy, who is at the helm of 2FM, lauded the pair, Johnny B and Johnny Smacks, for two productive years, appreciating their unique humour originating from South Tipperary and their eclectic music selection which captivated audiences throughout Ireland.

He recognized that the listenership of the drivetime show exhibited a strong presence right from inception and the recent survey results mirrored this. Although sad to bid them goodbye, he wished them good luck as they venture forward.

Healy also tipped his hat to the remarkable content developed by Aifric O’Connell, Aindriú De Paor, and Emma Power, who also had their slots with The 2 Johnnies during their stint. He expressed his satisfaction at the talent 2FM possesses and affirms that with such a team, the station will carry on thriving.

‘McMahon’, one part of the pair, reminisced about the amusing times they had hosting the show. He shared how they came in with the intention to spread mirth during the afternoons while encouraging folks to tell their unique, eccentric stories from all over Ireland.

O’Brien, the other half of the duo, reflected on their journey, mentioning how much they enjoyed their tenure and commenting on the unwavering, enthusiastic, and lively supporters they had. He expressed how their listener’s vivid on-air stories made him feel incredibly proud to interact with the nation each evening.

2FM is anticipated to announce its summer schedule in the weeks ahead. For more political discourse and analysis, tune in to our “Inside Politics” podcast.
