“15 Charged After Coolock Public Unrest”

Following disruptions in north Dublin’s Coolock, 15 individuals have appeared before court, charged with varying public order offences. The chaos erupted following protests against a derelict warehouse being repurposed as a migration facility. The 15 accused were among 19 arrested due to the disturbances, which involved several fires at an impromptu encampment.

On Monday evening, 13 men and two women were presented at the Criminal Courts of Justice in Dublin’s special session. These individuals were charged as per Section 6 and Section 8 of the Criminal Justice (Public Order) Act 1994;

Among the accused are: Colin Belton (28), Owen Burke (51), Stephen Burke (28), Christopher Byrne (27), Philip Dwyer (56), Josh Hanlon (23), Mia Johann Kearney (28), Martin Maughan (18), Anthony Moody (34), Patrick Scanlon (38), John Turner (40), Andrew Vickery (30), Dean Ward (29), Paul Metcalfe (18). On similar charges was Joyce Bergin (42), who was additionally charged under Section 53 of the Road Traffic Act, 1961.

All 15 individuals were granted conditional bail, bar from going near the previously owned Crown Paints factory on the Malahide road, and strictly instructed against engaging in any anti-social gatherings or protests.

Everyone is expected to reconvene for their court appearances on the 18th of September.
