13 Palestinians Killed in Gaza

Thirteen Palestinians lost their lives and another fifteen were injured as a result of Israeli bombardments on a shelter school and a housing unit in Gaza, according to the official Palestinian Authority news outlet, WAFA. The report was released early Saturday.

The refugee camp at the Halima al-Sa’diyya School in Jabalia, in Gaza’s northern region, lost at least eight individuals, as stated by WAFA. The Israeli military claimed it executed a precise assault on the militants who had taken cover in a Hamas command and control centre, which was situated within an area formerly identified as Halima al-Sa’diyya School in Gaza’s northern strip.

Elsewhere, five other Palestinians lost their lives in a different event when an Israeli airstrike hit a residential structure within the central Gaza Nuseirat camp.

Tensions escalated in the longstanding Israeli-Palestinian conflict when on October 7th of the previous year, Hamas-led extremists launched an attack on Israel, culminating in the deaths of 1,200 individuals and the hostage-taking of approximately 250 others, as per Israeli records. The Israeli counteroffensive on the Hamas-controlled region led to the demise of more than 40,800 Palestinians, reported the local health department. This act virtually displaced the entire 2.3 million population, sparking a famine and prompting charges of genocide at the international court, all of which Israel disputes.

The United Nations reports that nearly 1.9 million residents across the Gaza Strip have been internally displaced, with some having been relocated over ten times. The report is based on information from Reuters.
